TAMILNADU ROAD SECTOR PROJECT-II Access link to TNRSP
TNRSP–II has been formed for upgrading important road corridors to cater to high density traffic within the State, funded by the World Bank.
The Wing functions under the control of a Project Director. The Project Director is assisted by 1 Chief Engineer, 2 Superintending Engineers and 8 Divisional Engineers. The project involves upgradtion and maintenance of high intensity traffic corridors of around 1155 Kms.
Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) Contracts : In this contract, the contractor has to design, construct and maintain the road. Under this contract 427.967 km length of roads have been taken up in 10 Packages for a value of Rs.1704.91 Cr for widening and upgrading to 2 lane with paved shoulders with 5 years of maintenance. Out of 10 contracts, 9 were completed for a length of 392.167Km and under maintenance. EPC 04 work for a length of 35.800Km is nearing completion.
Output and Performance Based Road Contracts (OPRC):
Roads already upgraded in TNRSP phase 1 have been taken up for maintenance under OPRC mode for a period of 5 years. Under this contract, 2 packages for a total length of 581.493 Km have been taken up for maintenance for a value of Rs.220.07Cr. Works were completed and the roads were handed over to the respective C&M Divisions.
Public Private Partnership (PPP Contract):
PPP 02 work having length of 70.2 Km has been completed and presently it is under 8 year maintenance period.
The packages PPP01 & PPP3 have been converted into EPC16 & EPC 14, EPC 15 respectively and works are under progress.
Additional Works
By utilizing front loaded fund sanctioned by the World Bank and State’s own fund, three additional works EPC-11, EPC-12 and EPC-13 have been taken up and the works are under progress.

DPR Preparation by using Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board (TNIDB) Fund:
An amount of 132.76 Crore has been sanctioned for Preparation of Detailed Project Reports for a length of 3319 Km roads under TNIDB fund. Out of this 3319Km, 1061 Km length of roads have been taken-up in first phase by engaging project preparation consultants in 5 packages.
